New to sewing? This beginner-friendly 1-day class teaches you the fundamentals of machine sewing while creating your own cotton or canvas tote bag. Led by instructor Molly of The Makery, you'll work at a comfortable pace with hands-on guidance every step of the way - no experience necessary. Pattern and instruction are included in your class fee 💃🏽.

Skill Level: Beginner Friendly (3.25hrs)

🧵 How to thread, set up, and safely operate a sewing machine
🧵 Right Side vs Wrong Side
🧵 Seam allowance
🧵 Sewing straight seams
🧵 Creating a box corner
🧵Cutting fabric and working from a simple pattern

Sewing machines are provided. If you prefer to learn on your own machine, you’re welcome to bring it, just be sure it’s in good working order. 

**Please note that machine repairs are not covered in this class**

1- Day Class:
🧵 Sewing machine basics, pattern cutting, tote bag construction and finishing.

Materials To Purchase
- Market Tote Bag Pattern - Provided
- 1m of Fabric (Canvas, cotton, linen, bottom weight)
- 1.5m of webbing 
- Matching thread
- Interfacing (optional, depending on fabric choice)

Age Policy
Our workshops are designed for participants aged 16 and over to ensure the best possible learning experience. Participants aged 16–17 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18+ who is also taking the class, you must have a signed waiver before the class begins.
