New to sewing? This beginner-friendly 2-week workshop teaches you the fundamentals of machine sewing while creating your own cotton or canvas tote bag. Led by instructor Molly of The Makery, you'll work at a comfortable pace with hands-on guidance every step of the way - no experience necessary.

🧵 How to thread, set up, and safely operate a sewing machine
🧵 Sewing straight seams
🧵Cutting fabric and working from a simple pattern
🧵 Introductory construction techniques for a finished tote bag
🧵 How to read a pattern
Sewing machines are provided. If you prefer to learn on your own machine, you’re welcome to bring it, just be sure it’s in good working order.
**Please note that machine repairs are not covered in this class**
Two-Week Workshop:
🧵 Week 1 (2.5 hours): Sewing machine basics, pattern cutting, and bag planning (including optional customization such as pockets)
🧵 Week 2 (2.5 hours): Tote bag construction and finishing

Thursday Evenings: 22nd & 29th July
Time: 6pm-8:30pm

Class Deadline: Friday 17th July
Notice: You may not complete your project during class, as everyone sews at their own pace. If needed, you are welcome to purchase additional time through our drop-in sessions or punch pass. Make up classes are not available if you miss a session.
🚨Cancellation🚨
All class fees are non-refundable. Cancellations or changes must be made at least 72 hours in advance to receive store credit. Late cancellations and no-shows forfeit the class fee. For more information please read our cancellation policy.
Age Policy
Our workshops are designed for participants aged 16 and over to ensure the best possible learning experience. Participants aged 16–17 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18+ who is also taking the class, you must have a signed waiver before the class begins.
