Join Jasmine Brackenbury from Ocean Peaks Designs in her confident beginner class at The Makery. Come and learn more than just the basics of crochet in this 3 week class. You will walk away with your own Crocheted Revelstoke Double Brim Beanie. The pattern will be provided in class, but the yarn choice is down to you 😜.
Prerequisites:
This is a LVL 2 class and is best suited to confident beginners. You should already know how to make a slip knot and foundation chain, work a single crochet stitch, turn your work and crochet back and forth in rows, and be able to identify your stitches. You do not need to know how to crochet in the round or read a pattern — we’ll learn that together!
Skills you’ll learn:
- Working in the round
- Joining rounds and identifying the beginning of a round
- Reading and following a crochet pattern
- Understanding gauge and why it matters
- Understanding yarn weights and hook sizes
- Recognizing and working different crochet stitches
- Creating a stretchy double brim
- Joining the brim and transitioning into the body of a hat
- Shaping and closing the top of a hat
- Changing/joining yarn and weaving in ends
- Making and attaching a pom pom
- Introduction to blocking and finishing techniques

Age Policy
Our workshops are designed for participants aged 16 and over to ensure the best possible learning experience. Participants aged 16–17 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18+ who is also taking the class, you must have a signed waiver before the class begins.
